The project

This is a Verizon app created to help parents to teach their kids about financial education, sending money, assigning chores and allowances, and keeping an eye on their spending, while the kids feel independent of their financial decisions.

The goal

Help Zemoga (the intermediary company) to support the Verizon team to launch this product after almost 4 years of definition and implementation.

My role

My role included strategy, project management, research, documentation, designing, documentation, and QA, working end to end for the team, and supporting all the needs and requirements on time.

The rebranding

As a Verizon product, we receive the requirement of redesigning the entire app to belong to the Verizon portfolio, which at that time meant to create the app again only 3 months before launch.

As a design strategy, I proposed changes easy to implement that make the app looks like the requirement but avoided a complete rework.

Parent app

The redesign of some of these screens to accomplish legal requirements was required for the launch, so it was necessary to revise previous screens approved and implemented before, taking special care of the onboarding flow, considering special restrictions from rules that protect the security of under 18 users.

Kid app

Having a more serious style guide for the app was a huge challenge, especially for creating an app for kids. However, it was possible to negotiate some variations with the Verizon branding team that allows us to create a more playful look and feel for teens but aligned with the branding color palette and style.

Emails design system

I had the challenge of creating a strategy for the timing and type of content of the emails that have to be triggered anytime the users do some specific actions. For that reason, it was necessary as well to create a small Design System with all the assets and documentation for the templates and designs.

Product launch

After almost 4 years, the product finally was alive. So the big goal was to ensure that every feature was implemented as required, doing a detailed QA, reporting all the kinds of bugs. Also, I have the opportunity to support the website team, guiding them to understand the product and the needs of the users.

More of the launch...

New features

Conducting user testing gave me more knowledge about the real needs and how accurate was our product. Having the requirement of designing a way of assigning recurring chores to the kids, I had to do research, understand the bank requirements, review the development restrictions and propose the best user experience for parents and kids. After selecting the best user experience, an interactive prototype was made and presented to real users on interviews conducted by me.

The result of this analysis helped us to make improvements on the experience and then continue with the implementation with more confidence.
